Katie Squires joined the Delaware swimming and diving staff in the fall of 2021.
Prior to arriving in Newark, Squires served as the aquatics manager at The Bridge Indoor Sports Complex in Bridgeport, West Virginia. As the aquatics manager she oversaw the daily operations of a new, 10-lane 25-yard competition pool, 4-lane, 25-yard warm-up pool and outdoor recreational pool. She was instrumental in the opening of The Bridge in May 2021.
While in Bridgeport she supervised the lifeguard and swim instructor staff, coordinated the pool schedules and events calendar, served as a liaison to the local high schools and oversaw the formation of the new USA Swimming club team, Mountain State Storm. She also spent two years as the recreation coordinator for the City of Bridgeport in which she oversaw the operations of the outdoor recreational pool prior to the completion of the indoor facility.
From 2014-2018 she served as the assistant swim coach and recruiting coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan College. In this role she worked with both the men’s and women’s teams to be successful in the pool and in the classroom.
In 2018, Squires helped lead the men’s team to a Mountain East Conference championship and the women to a runner-up finish. The coaching staff was named MEC Men’s Coach of the Year in 2018 as well. During her tenure at WVWC the team set multiple school records and achieved numerous top-10 all-time placements.
A 2009 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Squires earned a bachelor's degree in sports management. She obtained a master’s in sports management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
