Ryan Carter joined the Delaware track & field staff as an assistant coach on Oct. 31, 2022. In his new role, Carter will be responsible for the oversight of sprints and jump events.
Carter comes to Delaware after most recently spending time as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field at St. Mark’s High School (2021-22) and prior to that served as head coach of the cross country and track & field program at his alma mater, Glasgow High School (2017-21). Carter helped guide St. Mark’s 2022 boys cross country squad to a state championship and the girls cross country team to back-to-back state championships (2021-22).Â
Carter also has an accomplished collegiate resume highlighted by his standout career competing for Delaware State’s track & field program. His accolades include two-time Division I All-American and 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 200m and 400m champion. Carter earned his bachelor’s degree in business management/economics in 2019 and is working towards a master's degree in special education from Wilmington University.
Carter was also an exceptional track athlete in high school. He was part of the 2008 Delaware Division I state championship team, a 12-time first-team all-state track & field selection (2006-08) and a two-time Nike national indoor and outdoor All-American.
A Delaware native, Carter previously served as a special education teacher at Red Clay Consolidated School District in Wilmington, Del.
