George Crook joined the Marketing & Engagement department at Delaware in April 2021 and began his new role as Director of Marketing & Licensing beginning in May 2023. In his third year with the Blue Hens, Crook serves as the primary contact in the execution of game presentation, marketing planning, ticket initiatives, fan engagement efforts, sponsorship activation, scripting, and producing for all Delaware Football games.
He also assists with Blue Hens Women's Soccer, Women's Lacrosse, and Cross Country/Track & Field. Crook is also tasked with the upkeep of the Delaware Athletics brand and generation of royalty revenue through all licensing, merchandising, and e-commerce efforts with current and potential licensees and vendors. He is also the creator of the undergraduate marketing lead intern program (Fall '22) and Marketing & Engagement Coordinator position (Summer '23).
Prior to arriving in Newark, Crook spent the previous two years at Wichita State University as a Graduate Assistant of Marketing and Fan Engagement while earning his M.Ed. in Sport Management ('21). During his time in Wichita, he served as the primary marketing contact for Shocker Baseball and the secondary marketing contact for Shocker Men's Basketball. For his non-sport responsibilities, Crook was the lead contact for creating and uploading content to all Daktronics and Tri-Caster systems for the sports of volleyball, men's & women's basketball, and baseball. He was also lead on the creation of Wichita State Men's Basketball's new student section, The Shock Block.
Before earning his graduate degree, he worked as an undergraduate marketing intern at Mississippi State University while receiving his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies ('19). As an intern, he assisted with gameday marketing needs for football, men's & women's basketball, women's soccer, baseball, and softball. He also completed various tasks on a daily basis within the marketing office and assisted with auxiliary events put on by the marketing team.
Crook has also gained valuable industry experience from being a participant of the 2021 NCAA Emerging Leader Seminar, working the 2019 Wichita Regional of The Basketball Tournament, and presenting at the 27th Annual NACMA Convention in Washington D.C. (Esports: Emergence & Impact on the Collegiate World).
Crook resides in Newark, DE, with his wife, Abbi.
