Gim?nez Collects Third CAA Rookie of The Week Honors of the Season (Oct. 17, 2011)

Giménez was also named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 19 and Sept. 26. He has earned six weekly honors from various sources, including being named to the Soccer America National Team of the Week on Sept. 26.
The Calle Calatrava, Spain scored all three of his goals in the second half of Delaware's split games. Giménez tallied Delaware's lone goal against Drexel Wednesday night in a 2-1 double overtime loss.
But Giménez and the Hens bounced back Sunday afternoon as the Spanish forward struck twice in the final 15 minutes of Delaware's thrilling 3-2 double overtime win over 2010 CAA runner up Hofstra University.
Giménez cut the Pride's lead to 2-1 with a marker in the 75th minute and proved to be clutch with a game-tying goal in with just 38 seconds left in regulation.
The game-tying tally was the second time Giménez has scored a goal this season with less than two minutes on the clock. His previous goal came at the 88:03 mark against Georgia State and stood up as the game-winner on Sept. 24.
Giménez now has 20 points on the year, stemming from eight goals and four assists. He joins senior forward Evans Frimpong in the 20+-point club. Frimpong has nine goals and three helpers for 21 points.
Playing in his first collegiate season for the Blue and Gold, Giménez has been a crucial part of Delaware's offense, which is ranked No. 3 in the CAA with 26 total goals. The Hens are second in goals per game at 2.17 over their 12 games.
Individually, Giménez is ranked fourth in the CAA in total points but holds down the No. 2 spot in points per game (2.2). He is tied for fourth in total goals and is second in goals per game (0.89). His four assists good enough for sixth in the league while he is third in assists per game (0.44).
With Giménez surpassing the 20-point mark this past weekend, it marks the first time two Hens have reached the benchmark in the same season since the 1977 season when John McCloskey tallied 27 (10g, 7a) and Dave Ferrell had 24 (9g, 6a).
Delaware's 26 goals this season are the most under head coach Ian Hennessy and the most the Hens have scored since the 2001 season when the squad found the back of the net 29 times.
Also earning CAA weekly honors were Co-Players Tim Hopkinson (Old Dominion) and Evan Scott (Georgia State).
The Hens are back at Delaware Mini-Stadium on Wednesday against George Mason. The second game in a three-game home stand is slated to kickoff at 7 p.m.
