PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Led once again by sophomore Lindsay Prettyman (at right), the University of Delaware women's cross country squad finished in 19th place in the team standings at the NCAA District 2 Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship Saturday at Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Delaware, competing for the first time since finishing fifth at the Colonial Athletic Association meet back on Oct. 29, collected 564 points to finish 19th out of 29 total teams and finished in the Top 20 for the eighth straight year. A year ago, the Hens finished 16th at the NCAA qualifying meet.
Prettyman led the Blue Hens for the sixth time in seven outings this fall as she crossed the finish line with a time of 24:15.8 over the six-kilometer course. She also led the team at the CAA meet with a 16th place showing.
Georgetown and Villanova shared the team title as each registered 57 points. West Virginia was third followed by Penn State, Princeton, La Salle, Navy, Duquesne, Maryland, and Loyola. Delaware finished ahead of the likes of Lafayette, Temple, Marshall, Pittsburgh, and Seton Hall.
Delaware freshman Nicole Daly, who has been Delaware's runner-up finisher for most of the year, was No. 2 again as she placed 112th overall in a time of 24:34.6. Katrina Steenkamer was 118th (24:40.8), Ali Lambert was 123rd (24:47.3), Sophie Kauffman finished 128th (24:53.8), Meredith Steenkamer came in at 137th place (25:08.3), and Alyssa Kennedy placed 147th (25:14.0).
