Delaware Harriers Place Fifth at Season-Ending ECAC Championships; Prettyman Places 10th Overall

BRONX, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware women's cross country squad closed out the 2011 season with a strong finish Saturday as Lindsay Prettyman (at right) placed 10th overall and the Blue Hens posted a fifth place team finish in the University Division race at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship at Van Cortlandt State Park.
Iona won the ECAC Championship Division team title while La Salle was the team winner in the Coaches Division. The Hens also placed fifth in the Coaches Division team competition.
Prettyman, a sophomore, led the Blue Hens for the fourth straight meet and for the seventh time in eight races this season as she covered the six-kilometer course in 18:40 to place 10th overall, her fifth top 20 finish of the year.
Kathryn Fanning of Albany won the race in a time of 18:06 to lead the Great Danes to the University Division team title with 109 points. Marist was second followed by Towson, Sacred Heart, Delaware, Monmouth, Rider, Fordham, Bucknell, and George Mason in the 22-team field.
The Hens placed six runners in the top 100 as Nicole Daly was 30th in 19:09, Katrina Steenkamer was 31st in 19:10, Alyssa Kennedy placed 55th in 19:26, Sophie Kauffman was 70th in 19:38, and Hannah DeMartino was 90th in 19:52.
In the Coaches Race, LaSalle won the team crown with a score of 43 and was followed by Marist, Bucknell, Navy, Delaware ,and Fordham in the six-team field. Emma Sidoriak led all Blue Hen runners in that race with a ninth place showing in a time of 21:14 while Michele Lambert was 20th in 20:35.
