NEWARK, Del. -- Dare to make a difference this holiday season by donating to the annual Ronald McDonald House Wish List Weekend and catch your favorite University of Delaware basketball players on both Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 as they begin their trek for a Colonial Athletic Association championship.
Prior to each game, the team will be collecting items for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware. Fans are encouraged to bring the following: paper towels, disinfectant wipes, cereal, individually wrapped snacks, or $10-$15 in gas cards.
The men open the weekend with a battle against longtime rival Drexel on Saturday, December 3 at the Bob Carpenter Center. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with the game slated to start at 4 p.m.
The women play the following day against CAA foe William & Mary starting at 2 p.m. The doors to the BCC will also open one-hour prior to tip-off.
Fans who participate in the drive will receive a voucher for two (2) FREE tickets to be redeemed for one of the following four Blue Hens basketball games: January 22, women's basketball vs. Drexel at 3:30 p.m.; February 1, men's basketball vs. George Mason at 7 p.m.; February 9, women's basketball vs. Old Dominion at 7 p.m.; or February 25, men's basketball vs. Northeastern at 12 noon.
All redemptions must take place at least 48 hours in advance of the selected game at the UD Athletic Ticket Office in the Delaware Field House, Room 101. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to provide nurturing and supportive environments and services to directly improve the health and well being of children and to bring comfort to their families.
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware provides a safe, affordable “home away from home” to families of seriously or chronically ill or injured children who are being treated at area hospitals and operates three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms within pediatric units of hospitals across Delaware.
The House is a place where families can stay together and receive the kind of special care they need at such difficult times. Families find a bit of comfort and peace and a hot evening meal after a long day at the Hospital. The House has 56,000 square feet of living space with 50 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom. Staff and volunteers welcome families and visitors from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
