Delaware Women Harriers Post Ninth Place Finish at Fordham Inv.; Prettyman Leads Hens Again

BRONX, N.Y. -- Sophomore Lindsay Prettyman (at right) led the Blue Hens for the second straight week as the University of Delaware women's cross country squad posted a ninth place team finish at the Fordham University Invitational at Van Cortlandt State Park Saturday morning.
Prettyman posted a 33rd place finish as she covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:25.22, leading the way for the Hens once again. Last week she placed 12th in the season opener as Delaware finished third in the team standings at the UMES Lid-Lifter.
Princeton put four runners in the top 10 and finished with 34 points to take the team title, edging second place Yale (43), which featured the top two finishers in individual champion Millie Chapman (18:03.63) and runner-up Jacque Sahlberg (18:10.52). Penn finished third followed by Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Fordham, New York University, and Delaware.
The race featured 17 teams and 217 runners overall.
Freshman Nicole Daly was the Hens' second finisher for the second consecutive week as she ran to a time of 19:32.62 to place 41st overall. Other Blue Hens who figured in the scoring were Sophie Kauffman, who placed 64th (20:01.96), Alyssa Kennedy in 65th place (20:02.69), and Katrina Steenkamer in 67th place (20:05.86).
Delaware will continue action next Saturday when the Blue Hens return home to host the Delaware Invitational on Saturday morning at White Clay Creek State Park off Route 896 in Newark.
