Delaware Women's Golf Team in Fourth Place, Sarah Skurla Second Following First Day of Season-Opening Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team opened its program history on Sunday by placing fourth out of 14 teams following the first round of the Towson Women's Invitational.
William & Mary leads the team standings with a first round score of 313, while St. John's and Old Dominion are tied for second at 317. The Blue Hens are fourth with a 322 score, while Columbia and Hampton are tied for fifth at 324.
Delaware freshman Sarah Skurla (at right) fired a three over par 39-36-75 on the par 72, 5,945-yard course at Hillendale Country Club, and is tied for second place in the individual standings. Harin Lee of St. John's leads the field with a one over par 38-35-73, while Skurla is one of four players tied for second two shots back.
Freshman Annie Bowlsby carded a nine over par 44-37-81 during her first collegiate action, and is tied for 21st place following the opening round. Fellow newcomers Andrea Slane, who carded a 47-36-83, and Baralee Theinthong, who fired a 42-41-83, each finished the day 11 over par and are tied for 32nd place.
Junior Frida Nilsson is tied for 38th place after she recorded a 13 over par 41-44-85. Playing as individuals, freshman Amanda Terzian carded a 44-44-88 to tie for 52nd place while classmate Emma Sills fired a 51-46-97 and sits in 72nd place.
The second and final round of the Towson Women's Invitational concludes Monday.
