Blue Hen Women's Golfers Finish Tied For Fifth at Towson Invitational During First Tournament in Program History

PHOENIX, Md. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place in the team standings out of 13 squads this Sunday and Monday as the Blue Hens competed in their first tournament in program history at the Towson Invitational.
The Blue Hens posted a 322 team score during Sunday's opening round before recording a 332 on Monday, tying Hampton for fifth place with a two-day score of 654. Old Dominion claimed the team title with a 624 score, while William & Mary was second at 628, St. John's finished third at 637, and Columbia placed fourth at 640.
Delaware freshman Sarah Skurla (at right) posted the low round by a Blue Hen for the second consecutive day, as she fired an eight over par 80 on Monday on the par 72, 5,945-yard course at Hillendale Country Club. Skurla, who shot a 75 on Sunday, finished in seventh place in the individual standings with an 11 over par 75-80-155.
Fellow newcomer Annie Bowlsby shot an 11 over par 83 during Monday's final round, and tied for 25th place with a 20 over par 81-83-164. Freshman Andrea Slane had the second best round by a Blue Hen on the day, as she carded a 10 over par 82 to finish with a 21 over par score of 83-82-165, tied for 27th place.
Baralee Theinthong shot a 15 over par 87 during her second round and finished 41st with a two-round score of 83-87-170, 26 over par. Playing as an individual, Amanda Terzian shot an 88 for the second consecutive day and finished in a tie for 51st place with a 32 over par score of 88-88-176. Classmate Emma Sills also played as an individual, improving by four strokes to shoot a 93 on Monday and finishing 72nd with a 46 over par score of 97-93-190.
Junior Frida Nilsson fired an 85 on Sunday but was disqualified during her second round on Monday.
Harin Lee of St. John's earned medalist honors with a two over par 73-73-146, winning the tournament by a commanding five strokes.
Delaware will take the upcoming weekend off before competing in the Wisconsin Badger Invitational on Sept. 25-26 in Madison, Wisc.
