RICHMOND, Va. – After putting away a pair of goals in a win over Siena on Friday night, Amy Pickard, a senior forward on the University of Delaware women's soccer team, was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week.
Cheyenne Skidmore from Towson joined Pickard in the weekly honors. Freshman Kate Courter was tabbed as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
Pickard, who hails from Lancaster, Pa., (Lancaster Catholic), was also named the National 5&10 Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
Pickard posted her two goals against Siena College on Friday night, leading the Hens to a 4-1 win over the defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champions. The fifth-year senior managed the pair of goals, her first two-goal game since Sept. 7, 2008, on just three shots.
The two goals were her first of the season, coming in just six games, while last season it took her 10 games to score.
Pickard's goals helped the Hens snap a 24-game non-conference winning streak in the month of September for the Saints, while also halting a 17-game non-conference road-winning streak.
The weekly honor is the first for Pickard since 2007 when she earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
A health behavior science major, Pickard has tallied 17 career goals while amassing 37 points. With her insurance goal on Friday, Pickard moved into sole possession of 10th place all-time in career goals at Delaware. She is also ranks 13th in program history in points.
Pickard and the Blue Hens take on in-state foe Delaware State on Friday night. The third edition of the Route 1 Rivalry is set for 7 p.m. at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
