Prettyman Leads Blue Hens Once Again as Delaware Posts Second Place Team Finish at Delaware Inv.

NEWARK, Del. -- Lindsay Prettyman (at right) continued her streak of strong finishes Saturday morning as the University of Delaware sophomore posted an eighth place finish and led the host Blue Hens to a second place team finish at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
Prettyman covered the muddy six-kilometer course in a time of 23:14.28 to finish eighth in the 132-runner field as Delaware earned a total of 59 points to place second in the four-team Division I field. Mississippi won the team title with a perfect score of 15 points as Ole Miss runners captured the first six spots in the race. George Mason was third with 73 points followed by Seton Hall with 132 points.
In the men's race, Mississippi captured the Division I team title with 34 points followed by George Mason, Saint Joseph's, and Seton Hall. In the men's Division II-III race, Stockton won with 33 points followed by Gettysburg, Wilmington, Hood, Holy Family, Lincoln, and Rutgers-Newark. In the women's Division II-III contest, Gettysburg won the team title followed by Stockton, Wilmington, Hood, Holy Family, Bloomfield, Lincoln, and Rutgers-Newark.
Delaware freshman Nicole Daly placed second among Blue Hen runners for the third straight meet as well as she covered the course in 23:43.30 to place overall. Other Blue Hen finishers in the top 30 were Katrina Steenkamer in 11th place (23:49.30), Meredith Steenkamer in 17th (24:13.16), Sophie Kauffman in 18th place (24:13.81), Emily Gispert in 20th place (24:19.96), Alyssa Kennedy in 22nd place (24:22.44), and Hannah DiMartino in 30th place (24:57.30).
Logan Waites of Mississippi won the women's individual title with a time of 21:08.03 while Robert Reynolds of George Mason won the eight-kilometer men's title with a time of 25:45.04.
Delaware will return to action Sept. 30 when the Blue Hens compete at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
