Delaware Men's Soccer Hosts Hofstra in Key CAA Match Sunday at Delaware Mini Stadium

Delaware (3-8-4, 1-2-3 CAA) sits in ninth place in the conference, only three points with four matches to play out of sixth place, the final spot that qualifies for the CAA Tournament. Hofstra is fifth in the conference with a 9-4-1 record and 3-3 mark in the conference.
“These are the types of games that you want to play in, games with everhtin on the line” Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy said about Sunday's match versus Hofstra. “We are drawing close to our season's end now and with our fate in our hands.”
Hofstra head coach Richard Nuttal is in his 24th season with the Pride. HU is led by Maid Memic, who has a team-high six goals scored and 16 points on the season. The Pride's main facilitator is Chris Griebsch, who has seven assists on the year and the second-most points on the squad with 15. The Last year Hofstra was 7-10-1 overall with a 4-4-1 record in the CAA.
Entering Sunday's match, Hofstra is riding a double-overtime 1-0 loss at Northeastern while the Blue Hens have tallied back-to-back 1-1 ties at James Madison and Drexel.
Freshman Joe Dipre and junior Mark Garrity are tied for the team-lead in goals scored with three apiece. Junior Kyle Nuel paces the team with three assists while junior Roberto Gimenez is the only UD player with multiple goals and assists with two each.
“A win tomorrow would be a huge reslut in helping us back into a third-straight, post-season appearance in a very tough conference,” Hennessy added.
The Blue Hens continues their final leg of the CAA schedule on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. when Delaware hosts George Mason at Delaware Mini Stadium.
