NEWARK, Del. -- Joe Dipre, who tallied the game's only assist in the University of Delaware men's soccer team's season-ending 1-0 victory over UNCW, is the National 5 & 10 Stores Inc. Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week award for the period ending Nov. 5
For his efforts, Dipre was also named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week. He earned his first weekly Best of the Blue Hens honor in his young career.
Dipre is a native of Betchworth, England and a graduate of London Freemen's School.
Joining Dipre as CAA Co-Players of the Week were Drexel's Tal Bublil, who scored the game-winning goal in the Dragons' 2-0 victory over James Madison and Georgia State's Alex Vivanco, who scored three goals in two games for the Panthers last week.
Dipre provided the helpful assist on Kyle Bruno's goal in the 36th minute of the first half in Delaware's 1-0 victory over UNCW on Friday, Nov. 2 in the season finale at Delaware Mini Stadium.
Dipre finished the season as Delaware's leading scorer with eight points (three goals and three assists). He is the first freshman to lead the Blue Hens in scoring since 2007, when Demar Stephenson's six points (two goals and two assists) led the club.
Dipre became the first league Rookie of the Week winner for the Hens since 2009 when Brandon Paul earned the nod from the CAA during the week of Oct. 5.
