CAA Selects Tobias Muller to All-CAA 2nd Team (Nov. 8, 2012)

PHILADELPHIA – After losing a year due to injury, University of Delaware men's soccer team captain, sophomore defenseman Tobias Muller, has been named second team All-Colonial Athletic Association.
The CAA post-season honors were selected by a vote of the conference coaches and was announced at the annual league banquet Thursday night.
Northeastern's Don Anding was named the CAA Player of the Year after guiding the Huskies to a No. 2 seed in the Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Championship semifinals and finals being held in Philadelphia this weekend at Drexel University.
Hofstra's Simon Cox and Northeastern's Shaun Foster were named the Co-Defensive Players of the Year while Hofstra's Joseph Holland earned Rookie of the Year plaudits. Northeastern's Brian Ainscough and Drexel's Doug Hess were tabbed the CAA's Co-Coaches of the Year.
Muller, a native of Steinfert, Germany (Bunsen Gymnasium HS) anchored the defensive line for the Blue Hens at the center back position for nine games that included seven starts. The 22-year old helped Delaware's defensive attack to three shutouts on the season and tallied one goal in 2012, his second of his career.
“We are delighted for Tobi, he is a credit on an off the field,” Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy remarked about the UD captain and civil engineering major. “After being away from the game for over the year, it is a deserved award for him.”
The All-CAA first team consisted of Anding (Northeastern), Olakunle Banjo (Towson), Tim Hopkinson (Old Dominion), Taylor Morgan (George Mason), Jamie Dell (UNCW), Chris Harmon (Old Dominion), Nathan Page (Drexel), Paul Wyatt (James Madison), Cox (Northeastern), Foster (Hofstra), Bjarki Adalsteinsson (James Madison) and Oliver Blum (Northeastern).
Alongside Muller, the CAA second team was comprised of Chris Greibsch (Hofstra), Maid Memic (Hofstra), Timi Mulgrew (Geroge Mason), Joseph Holland (Hofstra), Jordan LeBlanc (Old Dominion), Dante Marini (Northeastern), Ken Tribbett (Drexel), Tal Bublil (Drexel), Alex DeJohn (Old Dominion), Ambry Moss (Northeastern) and Tim Washam (Drexel).
Earning CAA third team honors were Gideon Asante (Old Dominion), Fabio Machado (Drexel), William Mellors-Blair (Georgia State), Jonathan Eckford (Northeastern), Alex Herrera (George Mason), Jamal Keene (Georgia State), Christian McLaughlin (James Madison), Chris Locandro (Georgia State), Hugh Roberts (George Mason), Will Smith (WIlliam & Mary) and Victor Francoz (Old Dominion).
The CAA All-Rookie team consisted of Bjarki Adalsteinsson (James Madison), Colin Bonner (UNCW), Terence Carter (Northeastern), Ray Condotta (Old Dominion), Donovan Fayd'Herbe de Maudave (Northeastern), Josh Grant (James Madison), Ryan Harmouche (George Mason), Joseph Holland (Hofstra), William Mellors-Blair (Georgia State), and Felix Petermann (Towson).
Delaware missed the opportunity to defend its CAA title and a third straight CAA Tournament this fall after posting a record of 4-11-4 (2-5-3 CAA) this season.
Friday's CAA semifinal matches will match No. 2 Northeastern vs. No. 3 James Madison at 5 p.m. and No. 4 Hofstra vs. No. 1 Drexel at 7:30 p.m. Winners of the semifinals will play on Sunday, November 11 at 2 p.m.
The four teams will be vying for the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I tournament.
