RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware senior Lauren Carra (at right), a preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, was named Monday as the CAA Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, along with William & Mary's Emily Correal.
Carra provided the heroics for the Blue Hens Sunday afternoon as she knocked down a running jumper off the glass with two seconds remaining to finish a 59-58 comeback win over Princeton.
The 5-9 guard, who played most of the second half with four fouls, collected 15 points, six rebounds and three assists against the Tigers.
Earlier in the week, Carra led all scorers with 16 points as the Hens defeated Rhode Island on the road. She added a game-high five assists with four rebounds, two steals and one block in the win.
For the week, Carra averaged 15.5 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal. The Dunmore, Pa. native (Dunmore HS) currently sits in 23rd place on the Delaware all-time scorers list and needs just six points to break the 1,000 point mark in her career.
Through seven games this season, Carra is second on the team and eighth in the CAA with 14.9 points per contest. She is third in the conference with a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio, sixth with 1.7 three-pointers made per game and tied with teammate Kayla Miller for seventh at 3.0 assists per.
As a team, UD is riding a four-game winning streak and is 4-1 at home this season and 6-2 overall.
The Blue Hens take a 10-day break before hosting the 10th-ranked University of Maryland Terrapins Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
