RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior Stephen Scialo was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday following his outstanding performance at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational.
Scialo (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) carded a 10 over par 77-75-71-223 on the par 71, 7,055-yard White Manor Country Club course this Monday and Tuesday to finish in fourth place at the tournament. The finish was the highest of the season for Scialo, and marked the third time he has placed among the top 10 this year.
Scialo's even par round of 71 on Tuesday was his third lowest of the season, as he led the Blue Hens to a tie for second place out of 14 squads in the team standings.
Scialo has appeared in all nine tournaments for Delaware this year, ranking second on the team with a 75.00 round average, and has been the Blue Hens' top finisher three times on the season.
The honor marks Scialo's first career CAA Men's Golfer of the Week Award. Scialo and the Blue Hens return to action this Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Penn State Rutherford Intercollegiate in State College, Pa.
