Miller Leads Three Blue Hens on Pre-Season All-CAA Squad (Aug. 16, 2012)

Leading the way for the Blue Hens was senior forward Ali Miller, who was one of 13 players selected to the first team. In addition, senior midfielder Tania Domingos and junior midfielder Chelsea Duffy were honorable mention selections.
A total of 20 players overall were selected by the league head coaches on the first team and honorable mention squad. William & Mary senior midfielder Mallory Schaffer was selected as the pre-season CAA Player of the Year.
Delaware, which posted a 10-7-4 record a year ago and advanced to the CAA Tournament semifinals, will open the 2012 season this Sunday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. Admission is free to all UD men's and women's soccer home games.
Miller, a senior forward from Sinking Spring, Pa. (Wilson High School), tied a school single season record with 14 goals a year ago when she was named first team All-CAA and earned a spot on the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team. She owns 22 career goals in three seasons at Delaware.
Domingos, a senior midfielder from Sandy Hook, Conn. (Newtown HS), will be a fourth-year starter this fall. She started 19 games a year ago and earned third team All-CAA honors after scoring a goal and three assists.
Duffy, a junior midfielder from Glassboro, N.J. (Gloucester Catholic HS), was one of just eight underclassmen named to the CAA pre-season teams. A two-year starter, she earned third team All-CAA honors in 2011 when she played in 21 games and recorded four goals.
