Olsen, a native of Villa Park, Calif. (Villa Park HS), led the Blue Hens in assists during both of Delaware's matches last week. She posted season-highs of 67 assists and 24 digs in Wednesday's narrow 3-2 loss to Penn, and contributed 28 assists Friday at Towson during UD's conference opener.
Olsen also had four kills while not committing an attack error as she hit .400 for the week, and also recorded a pair of block assists against the Tigers.
Olsen, who has started all 14 matches during her rookie season for Delaware, currently leads the Blue Hens and ranks third in the league by averaging 9.58 assists per set. Additionally, she ranks third on the squad with 107 digs and tied for fifth with 13 blocks.
The conference award was the first of the career for Olsen, who shared CAA Rookie of the Week honors with George Mason libero Bernetta Moore. Marta Machos of Towson was named the league's Player of the Week, while her teammate I'ishah Keliikoa earned Defensive Player of the Week laurels.
Olsen and the Blue Hens, who are 3-11 on the campaign, return home on Tuesday to host Morgan State in a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt at the Bob Carpenter Center.
