Blue Hen Women's Tennis Completes Stay at USTA/ITA Northeast Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Delaware women's tennis team completed a brief trip to the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Saturday as an ankle injury held senior Dorothy Safron (New York, N.Y.) to limited action.
Safron teamed up with sophomore Carmen Lai (Shatin, Hong Kong) for a first round doubles victory over Navy Friday before losing to Virginia Tech's Raluca Mita and Francesca Fusinato, 8-0, Saturday morning.
Due to the ankle injury, Safron had to withdraw from the singles bracket.
Saturday wrapped up the fall slate for Delaware tennis.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
§ In two years playing together, Carmen Lai and Dorothy Safron are 22-16 in doubles play, good to tie for eighth place in UD history with Julia Kratzer and Mary Wolfenden (1990-95). This season, the duo are currently 8-4 overall.
§ Dorothy Safron holds a career doubles mark of 56-35, which ties her for eighth all-time with Rebecca Fearins (1993-98) and Karen Greenstein (1996-00).
§ The Blue Hens are 42-42 in singles and 24-15 in doubles action this season.
