Blue Hen Basketball Fans Encouraged To Participate in Winter Wonderland Project For Sandy Hook Students
December 19, 2012
NEWARK, Del. -- As the nation continues to reflect upon the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, Blue Hens fans are invited to join us to help in a small way and show their support for Sandy Hook Elementary School.
When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. The National PTA is working with the Connecticut PTSA and parent-volunteers to welcome the students back with a winter wonderland. They will be decorating the entire school with as many unique snowflakes as possible. Delaware fans will have the opportunity pre-game at the men's basketball games on Friday, December 21 and Monday, December 31, to create their own special snowflakes that will be sent to the new school to be hung.
The men's and women's basketball teams will also remember the victims of this tragic event by holding a moment of silence before their games this Thursday, December 20 and Friday, December 21.
