CAA Honors Delle Donne as Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the Fifth Straight Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- After taking reign atop the Colonial Athletic Association's all-time scoring list yesterday, University of Delaware women's basketball senior Elena Delle Donne was named the CAA Player of the Week for the fifth straight week and sixth time this season.
Delle Donne eclipsed James Madison's Dawn Evans' all-time career scoring mark of 2,667 yesterday at JMU's Convocation Center as the forward finished the day with 20 points and now sits with 2,677 career points. Additionally, Delle Donne tied the career field goals made record at 904 with six made against the Dukes. Drexel's Gabriela Marginean previously set this mark.
Delle Donne needs just two free throws to tie Marginean's CAA-best career mark of 684 made.
Through two wins this past week, Delle Donne averaged a double double of 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in 34.5 minutes of play. She also put up an average of 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per contest.
Delle Donne, who was recently announced as a Senior CLASS finalist, is third amongst NCAA activecareer points leaders behind Baylor's Brittney Griner (2,943) and Oral Roberts' Kevi Luper (2,681).
She currently averages 24.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.
The All-American has helped lead the No. 20/23 Blue Hens (20-3; 11-0 CAA) to a 15-game winning streak after wins this past week over Towson, 77-55, and James Madison, 71-64. Delaware has also won 30 straight in regular season CAA play. The Hens are currently ranked No. 1 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll.
Delaware returns home this Thursday as they host Old Dominion at 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
