No. 18/19 University of Delaware Senior Elena Delle Donne Picks Up Seventh CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. -- As the winning ways continue for the 18th ranked University of Delaware women's basketball team, seniorAll-American Elena Delle Donne (at right) continued to pick up the honors as she was named Monday as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
Delle Donne averaged 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocked shots and 1.5 steals in two CAA victories over George Mason and James Madison this week.
In Sunday's thrilling 61-60 victory over the Dukes, Delle Donne collected a season-high six blocks to give her 255 for her career and tie the CAA all-time mark previously set by William & Mary's Tiffany Benson in 2006-10.
Against JMU, the Hens trailed in the second period for the first time in nearly a month before Delle Donne scored 19 of her game-high 28 points in the frame in addition to knocking down one of two free throws with 15 seconds left to clinch the win.
Delaware (24-3, 15-0) finished the week with a 19-game winning streak while extending their three-year CAA regular season winning streak to 34 games. Additionally, with Sunday's win, the Blue Hens clinched a portion of the regular season CAA title.
For the season, Delle Donne averages 25.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. She ranks second in the nation in points per game and is seventh in the NCAA with a 91.4 free throw percentage. Delle Donne holds a career total of 2,786 points, which is good for 19th all-time in NCAA women's basketball history.
Old Dominion's Shae Kelley was also named the CAA Player of the Week while Drexel's Meghan Creighton pulled Rookie of the Week accolades.
Delaware returns to action Thursday as the Blue Hens head to Long Island to take on Hofstra at 7 p.m.
