Senior midfielder Chelsea Duffy and junior defender Allegra Gray were both selected to the All-CAA preseason squad, which is voted on by the league's head coaches.
A total of 13 players were selected to the All-CAA pre-season team while four student-athletes were named honorable mention. Hofstra's reigning CAA Rookie of the Year and All-Tournament team selection, Leah Galton, has been chosen as the pre-season Player of the Year.
Duffy, a native of Glassboro, N.J. enters her season senior earning her second consecutive pre-season honor. Last season Duffy was one of five Blue Hens to earn post-season honors as she was selected to the All-CAA second team. The midfielder started in all 18 games last season for Delaware, scoring two goals and passing out one assist.
After earning All-CAA first team honors as just a sophomore, Gray earns her first CAA pre-season accolade. Since moving to the CAA in 2002, Gray was just the second defensive player and first sophomore in Delaware program history to earn first team all-conference honors. Gray received the starting nod on 17 occasions in 2012 for the Hens.
The Hens, who posted an overall 9-8-1 record in 2012, going 6-4-0 in CAA, play looks to make their third consecutive CAA post-season appearance this season. Delaware opens CAA play on Sept. 26 in an afternoon matchup at Towson.
The season opener is set for Aug. 23 at St. John's.
