Kearney Brings Home First CAA Player of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior forward Shannon Kearney of the University of Delaware women's soccer team was tabbed as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week announced in a league release today. Kearney shares Player of the Week honors with Emily Banes of Towson.
The Player of the Week honor marks the first of Kearney's career as a Blue Hen. Kearney is the first Delaware player to earn conference Player of the Week honors this season and is the second team member, along with freshman Natalie Zelenky to bring home a weekly conference award. Zelenky earned CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 9.
Last week, Kearney tallied two goals in two games as Delaware earned victories over Long Island Brooklyn and Temple. Kearney's goal against the Blackbirds on Friday proved to be the game-winner the Hens' 2-0 win. The forward owns a four game point streak scoring three goals and passing out one assist. The senior tri-captain has also led the Blue Hens to a four game win streak and an undefeated home record of 4-0.
Kearney leads the Blue Hens in goals (4) and points (9) and currently ranks in the CAA top-10 for goals, points and game-winning goals (2).
