Delaware, which had opened the year with three narrow one-goal defeats on the road, picked up its first win while improving to 1-3 on the young season.
The Blue Hens jumped in front just 11:35 into the contest when freshman Natalie Zelenky (at left) scored her first career goal on a header off a cross from the right side. Nikki Adams and Emily Market each picked up their first assists of the campaign on Zelenky's marker.
The Greyhounds pulled even at the 37:09 mark of the opening half when Nicole Wahlig collected a rebound and found the back of the net to knot the contest at 1-1. Nicole Wojcik and Maddie Boccio recorded assists on the goal, which was Wahlig's first of the campaign.
The game remained tied until just over midway through the first overtime session, when Kearney took a feed from Zelenky and beat Loyola (Md.) goalkeeper Didi Haracic for the game-winner. The goal was Kearney's first of the season and eighth of her career as she gave the Blue Hens the dramatic victory.
Delaware goalkeeper Jessica Levy made three saves while going the distance to earn her first victory, while Haracic stopped 10 shots in the Greyhounds goal.
