NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware softball head coach Jaime Wohlbach has announced the addition of Sarah Maulorico to the Blue Hen staff as an assistant coach.
Maulorico, who will serve as Delaware's pitching coach, comes to Newark after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant at Division III Moravian College, including her final season as associate head coach.
During her tenure in Bethlehem, Pa., Maulorico helped lead the Greyhounds to three consecutive Landmark Conference championships and NCAA Eastern Regional appearances. Moravian went 34-15 and advanced to the Division III Women's College World Series in 2010, while the staff was named the Division III Eastern Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Greyhounds went a combined 165-55 during Maulorico's five seasons, as the Moravian pitching staff posted sub-2.00 earned run averages from 2010-12 including a low of 1.58 in 2010. Six different Moravian pitchers fired seven no-hitters over the last five years, including one perfect game. At the plate the Greyhounds hit over .325 during each of the last four seasons, increasing the team average each year, and ranked second in the nation with a .381 average this past spring.
During her time at Moravian Maulorico coached two All-Americans and eight All-Region players, while 14 Greyhounds earned NFCA Scholar All-America honors.
Prior to arriving in Bethlehem, Maulorico spent four seasons as the head coach at Western Christian High School in Covina, Calif., after serving as assistant coach in 2005.
Maulorico was a standout catcher at Mississippi University for Women, earning first team Gulf South Conference, first team All-Southern Region and second team All-American honors in 2003. She began her career at Southern Mississippi when she was a member of the 1999 Golden Eagles squad that advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's College World Series, before spending one season at the University of New Mexico.
