NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware senior Katrina Steenkamer won her third individual meet title of the season Saturday morning as she ran past the field at the UD Blue & Gold Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
Steenkamer (Rising Sun, Md./St. Mark's, Del. HS) covered the wet, six-kilometer course in a time of 22:29.47, narrowly edging teammate Betsy Erlanger who finished less than two seconds behind at 22:30.59. Steeknamer averaged a 6:02 mile.
Blue Hen runners captured each of the first 12 spots in a race that also featured the University of Delaware Track Club and the Towson University Track Club. Delaware claimed the team title as the only NCAA Division I varsity program competing in the meet.
Steenkamer has now won three individual titles and led the team in all five races this season. She also captured the Delaware Invitational and the Towson Invitational individual crowns back in September.
Rounding out the top 10 for the Blue Hens were Shannon Kelly (24:09.15) in third, Madeline Berman (24:17.16) in fourth, Gabby Alaimo (24:19.63) in fifth, Erin McCloskey (24:30.00) in sixth, Melissa Mazzo (24:34.73) in seventh, Rebecca Gessler (24:35.81) in eighth, Liz McGroarty (24:47.05) in ninth, and Melissa Talley (24:47.05) in 10th.
