Delaware Returns to Grant Stadium to Host CAA Rival Northeastern Wednesday

NEWARK, Del. – After a convincing 3-1 road victory over William and Mary Saturday night, the University of Delaware men's soccer team returns home Wednesday to play Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup.
The Blue Hens (10-4, 3-1 CAA) have won two consecutive games and boast a 6-2 home record this season.
Ian HennessyDelaware's offense is led by reigning CAA Player of the Week Guillermo Delgado who leads UD and the CAA with 10 goals on the season, including six game-winning scores.
Despite some midseason struggles, the Delaware offense is the most prolific in the CAA. The Blue Hens have the most goals in the conference with 30 and also has a CAA-high 23 assists.
Northeastern (5-9, 2-2 CAA) comes into Wednesday's game in sixth place in the CAA standings. The Huskies have lost two games in a row and have been shutout in both games.
Northeastern is last in the CAA in goals this season with 12. Brad Fountain leads the Huskies with three goals this season, while Frantzdy Pierrot has tallied a team-high three assists.
Wednesday will be the 22nd meeting between the Huskies and Blue Hens. The first matchup between the two programs took place in 1991 and Northeastern leads the all-time series 15-4-2. The two teams split a pair of meetings last year as Northeastern defeated UD 2-0 in the regular season, while Delaware got revenge by defeating the Huskies 1-0 in double overtime in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament.
The matchup between Delaware and Northeastern is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.
