DANBURY, Conn. – University of Delaware's Guillermo Delgado earned his second award of the week Tuesday as the midfielder was named Corvias ECAC Tri-Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19.
The sophomore scored game-winning goals in both of Delaware's wins last week. In the Blue Hens' victory over Hofstra, Delgado scored with 16 seconds left in double overtime to clinch Delaware's 2-1 victory Wednesday.
Delgado (Tres Cantos, Spain/Jose Luis Sampedro) gave the Blue Hens (10-4, 3-1 CAA) a 2-0 advantage midway through the second half at William and Mary Saturday in UD's 3-1 win over the Tribe. He leads the CAA with 10 goals and has tallied six game-winning scores this season.
Delgado shared the weekly honor with Providence sophomore Mac Steeves and Maryland senior Mikias Eticha. Julian Spindler of Seton Hall and Conor Leland of Vermont were named ECAC Co-Defensive Players of the Week, while UMass-Lowell's Austin Kroll was named ECAC Rookie of the Week.
Earlier in the week, Delgado was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The Blue Hens will return to action this Wednesday at UD hosts Northeastern at 3 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.
