Delaware Takes on Charleston in CAA Men's Soccer Road Test Saturday Night

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team will travel south this weekend to face Charleston in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup Saturday.
The Blue Hens (10-5, 3-2 CAA) are coming off a 3-2 defeat to Northeastern in overtime in their last game, but UD has not lost a CAA road game this season.
Ian HennessyDelaware currently sits in a tie for fourth place in the CAA Standings with nine points. Only three points separate second and seventh place in the conference standings heading into the penultimate weekend of play. The top six teams in the CAA at the end of the regular season will qualify for postseason play.
UD boasts one of the best offenses in the country. The Blue Hens are tied for fifth in the nation with 32 goals this season and have scored seven goals in their last three games. Guillermo Delgado leads the potent offensive attacks as the sophomore's 11 goals are the most in the CAA and ranks him third in the NCAA.
Charleston (2-9-2, 0-4-1 CAA) is still looking for its first CAA win of the season. Nico Rittmeyer leads the Cougar offense with four goals and two assists on the season. Charleston ranks last in the CAA in goals and assists and the Cougars have been shutout seven times this year including a 2-0 defeat to James Madison in their last game.
Saturday's game will be the second meeting between the Cougars and Blue Hens. The first meeting between the two programs took place last season in Charleston's first season in the CAA. Delaware defeated Charleston in that meeting 1-0.
The matchup between Delaware and Charleston is set to begin Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Patriots Point Soccer Complex.
