NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team continues its four-match homestand this weekend when the Blue Hens welcome College of Charleston and Northeastern to the Bob Carpenter Center for a pair of Colonial Athletic Association contests.
Delaware will take on the Cougars Friday at 7 p.m. and the Huskies Sunday at 1 p.m. at the BCC. Live video and live stats will be available for both matches.
The Blue Hens will be looking to snap a two-match losing skid after falling to Towson last Friday and to Hofstra on Wednesday in Newark. Delaware is currently 12-13 overall, and the Blue Hens are tied for fifth in the CAA standings with a 5-5 league record. UD is three matches head of Northeastern and William & Mary as the Blue Hens look to return to the six-team conference tournament.
Alexa Swann, who is averaging 2.18 kills per set to go with a .264 attack percentage, led Delaware with 13 kills during Wednesday's 3-1 setback to Hofstra. Taylor Hollingsworth added 14 digs vs. the Pride and continues to rank second in the league by averaging 5.05 digs per set.
Charleston, which has won three straight contests, enters Friday's match with a 16-9 overall record and currently sits in second place with an 8-2 CAA mark. Sloane White leads the Cougars and ranks fifth in the conference with a .306 hitting percentage, while Andi Zbojniewicz is third in the league by averaging 4.78 digs per set.
Northeastern brings a 10-14 overall record and a 2-8 league mark into its match at Towson on Thursday night. Natalia Skiba leads the CAA with 5.49 digs per set for the Huskies, while Kristen Walding ranks third in the conference with an 8.16 assists average.
The Cougars posted a 3-0 victory over Delaware during the teams' first meeting this season in Charleston on Sept. 28, and CofC has claimed all three matchups since joining the league. The Blue Hens took their first meeting this year with Northeastern, 3-1, in Boston on Oct. 3 behind a career-high 20 kills from Chandler Bryant.
During both matches this weekend, UD fans ages 12 and younger in costume are invited to trick or treat at the BCC and receive a coupon book full of Blue Hen surprises. Kids who arrive in costume will also receive free admission to the match. Sunday's match will be Youth Day, as rally towels will be handed out to the first 300 kids in attendance. Pregame fun will be available for kids from 12-1 p.m. prior to the match, with YoUDee and Baby Blue in attendance.
