University of Delaware Women's Cross Country Places 34th at Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women's cross country squad ran up against some top-notch competition and posted a 34th place team finish at the 41st annual Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University Saturday.
Delaware recorded 890 points to finish 34th overall in the 38-team field. University of Guelph, which placed four runners in the top 10, won the team title with 48 points followed by Georgetown, Florida State, Yale, and Cornell in the top five. Colleen Quigley of Florida State won the individual title with a time of 19:49 over the six-kilometer course.
Blue Hen senior Katrina Steenkamer led Delaware for the third straight meet as she placed 89th overall with a time of 21:38. Also for the Hens, Betsy Erlanger was 109th (21:49), Adrienne Franczkowski was 229th (23:01), Gabrielle Alaimo was 230th (23:01), Nicole Daly was 233rd (23:03), Melissa Mazzo was 235th (23:07), and Elizabeth McGroarty was 242nd (23:20).
In the Open race, Delaware was led by Shannon Kelly, who placed 89th overall with a time of 23:19.
Delaware will return to action next Saturday when the Blue Hens host the Blue & Gold Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park at 10 a.m.
