Blue Hen Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season This Weekend With Home Matches vs. Elon, UNCW

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team concludes its 2014 regular season this weekend as the Blue Hens host Elon and UNCW in a pair of crucial conference matches.
Delaware, which is 14-15 overall and 7-7 in the Colonial Athletic Association, faces the Phoenix Friday at 7 p.m. and the Seahawks Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Bob Carpenter Center. The Blue Hens are currently tied for fifth place in the CAA standings and have already clinched a spot in next week's league tournament. With a pair of victories this weekend, UD could finish as high as fourth place in the conference standings.
Delaware is coming off a three-set victory at William & Mary last Saturday, as Katie Hillman led the way with a match-high 13 kills. Hillman has reached double figure kills in each of her last four matches, averaging 16 kills during that stretch. Chandler Bryant contributed seven kills and hit .467 for the night, while she also posted a season-high eight blocks.
Taylor Hollingsworth made a match-high 18 digs during the victory, while Julia Anderson dished out 36 assists. Hollingsworth currently ranks third in the CAA with 4.96 digs per set, while Anderson is fourth with 7.22 assists per set.
Elon enters the weekend with a 6-24 overall record including a 1-13 mark in the league, and the Phoenix will be looking to snap a three-match losing skid. Sydney Busa leads the squad with 2.46 kills per set, while Morgan Maner ranks sixth in the conference by averaging 3.43 digs per set.
UNCW takes a 19-9 overall record and an 8-5 CAA mark into its match at Towson on Friday, as the Seahawks currently sit in fourth place in the league standings. UNCW had won four consecutive matches prior to dropping a 3-0 decision at the College of Charleston last Friday. Meredith Peacock leads the CAA with 1.50 blocks per set and is fourth with a .295 hitting percentage, while Morgan Kline paces the Seahawks by averaging 3.02 kills per set.
Delaware defeated both teams on the road four weeks ago, posting a 3-0 victory in Wilmington on Oct. 16 and a straight-set triumph at in Elon on Oct. 18.
Both matches will be livestreamed this weekend on bluehens.com, and both will feature postgame autograph sessions with the entire Blue Hen team.
