After a season where she continued her strong play as one of the premier defenders in the
conference, UD senior Allegra Gray (West Chester, Pa/Unionville - at left) was the selected first team All-CAA.
The senior standout also received recognition for her effort in the classroom as the statistics major was also selected to the CAA Women's Soccer All-Academic Team.
This season marks the third consecutive season that Gray has been named first team all-CAA. She was also named to the CAA All-Academic team as a junior and was named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll all four years of her UD career.
Junior Emily Market (Holland, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie- bottom right) was selected to the second team all-CAA team. Market tallied two goals this season for the Blue Hens.
Market was a third team all-CAA selection last season. Both Market and Gray are CoSIDA Academic All-American nominees.
Natalie Zelenky (Chambersburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area - below left) was the third Blue Hen to receive All-CAA accolades. The sophomore, who was selected to the All-CAA Rookie team as a freshman last season, was named third team All-CAA.
Zelenky finished the 2014 season with five goals and four assists, including two goals in Delaware's final two games.
The selections were determined based up a vote of CAA head coaches.
Scott Grzenda"Not only were all three leaders on the field, but they are also leaders in the classroom with an average GPA of 3.6. Losing Allegra will be very tough as she was such a consistent part of our team defense, however the good thing is we will have the attacking abilities of Emily and Natalie coming back next fall.”
The Blue Hens finished the season with a 7-9-2 record, including a 3-4-2 mark in the CAA. UD's
conference record was good for a tie for sixth place in the conference with Towson.
The Tigers were awarded a bid to the CAA Tournament over Delaware based upon its 1-0 victory over the Blue Hens on Oct. 17.
Leah Galton of Hofstra was named CAA Player of the Year. The CAA Defensive Player of the Year was Northeastern's Bianca Calderone.
Fellow Husky Hannah Lopiccolo was selected CAA Rookie of the Year, while Calderone and Lopiccolo's coach, Tracey Leone, was named CAA Coach of the Year.
