NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware junior volleyball player Jill Meyers has earned the 2014 UD Student Athletic Trainers' Club (SATC) Student-Athlete Award.
Meyers, who accepted the award at the SATC Holiday Banquet held at the STAR Campus on Dec. 3, was presented with the award due to being respectful of the care provided by the athletic training staff during her tenure as a student-athlete both on and off the court.
A middle hitter from Mission Viejo, Calif., Meyers appeared in all but two matches and made 23 starts this season for the Blue Hens, who finished 15-17 and advanced to the CAA Tournament. She ranked fourth on the team with a .222 attack percentage and fifth with 170 kills, averaging 1.59 kills per set.
Meyers posted a career-high 14 kills against Princeton en route to earning University of Delaware All-Tournament Team honors, and added 11 kills in the regular season finale vs. UNCW. Additionally, she recorded a season-best six blocks in matches against Penn and Hofstra.
An exercise science major at Delaware with a minor in mental disabilities, Meyers is currently serving as president of the UD Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
