Blue Hen Freshman Point Guard Kory Holden Named CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman point guard Kory Holden was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday.
Holden, a native of Salisbury, Md. (J.M. Bennett HS), averaged a team-high 14.0 points during the Blue Hens' first two home games against Army and Delaware State last week. He also handed out five assists and grabbed six rebounds, while playing 65 of a possible 80 minutes.
Holden posted 13 points, four rebounds and a game-high four assists during the home-opening defeat to Army, going 5 of 10 from the field. He then set his season-high for the second consecutive game by tying for the team lead with 15 points on Sunday vs. the Hornets.
Holden, who has started all seven games so far for Delaware, currently leads the team with 25 assists, and ranks second with 11.3 points per game and 29 rebounds. He is tied for fifth in the CAA with 3.6 assists per game and is the 19th leading scorer in the conference, and has reached double figures in five of the seven games this season.
Holden and the Blue Hens return to action on Thursday, Dec. 18 when they host Temple at the Bob Carpenter Center at 7 p.m.
