NEW ORLEANS -- University of Delaware senior Lindsay Prettyman has been selected to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national All-Academic Team for cross country.
An exercise science major with a 3.88 grade point average, Prettyman (St. Mark's HS/Newark, Del.) was among 129 runners nationally named to the NCAA Division I Women's All-Academic Team based on their athletic and academic accomplishments for the 2013 season.
Honorees must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater and must have finished as an All-American or among the 15 finishers in their regional meet.
Prettyman capped an outstanding career in 2013 when she led the team in seven of the eight races in which she competed. She recorded four top 10 finishes, including capturing the title at the Delaware Blue-Gold Invitational and placing third at the Towson Invitational.
She was unable to finish the Colonial Athletic Association race, but bounced in a big way by placing 20th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region competition two weeks later and followed that with a 117th place finish at the NCAA Championships at Indiana State. She became the first UD runner to compete at the NCAA Championships since 1984.
Prettyman was among four CAA runners honored on the team and was joined by William & Mary's Meghan McGovern, Emily Stites, and Michelle Britto.
