Chatman joins the Blue Hens from Clemson University, where she played in 18 games for the Tigers as a freshman last season. Due to NCAA regulations, Chatman will be required to sit out the 2014-15 season.
“We're excited to have Sadé join our program,” remarked Martin, who is in her 19th season as the head coach at Delaware. “We originally recruited Sadé out of high school, so we know her well. She'll have a year of working against our post players in practice and learning our system, which will be very beneficial to her. We look forward to her contributions in the future.”
A 6-1 forward hailing from St. Paul, Minn., Chatman averaged 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game at Clemson.
Chatman was a four-year All-Conference honoree from St. Paul Central High School under head coach Willie Taylor. As a senior, she averaged 14.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and shot .465 from the floor. A career 1,000-point scorer, Chatman led her team to the Minnesota State Championship with 31 points, 16 rebounds, six blocks and four assists in the finals victory.
The daughter of Emelia Terry and Michael Terry, Chatman plans on majoring in health science at Delaware with the goals of becoming a Physician's Assistant.
