Delaware Women Harriers Set to Host Annual Delaware Invitational Saturday at White Clay Creek State Park

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women's cross country squad will return to action for the first time in two weeks and will have the advantage of competing on its own course Saturday morning as part of the annual Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the men's eight-kilometer competition at 10:45 a.m. The UD women will be looking to improve upon their second place finish at the meet a year ago.
A total of 31 teams will be competing at the meet with the women's competition featuring host Delaware, Albright, Cairn, Coppin State, Delaware Track Club, Delaware Tech, Franklinville Track Club, Goldey-Beacom, Holy Family, Immaculata, Rowan, Rutgers-Newark, Salisbury, Seton Hall, St. Vincent, Towson, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington.
The men's field will include Albright, Cairn, Delaware Track Club, Delaware Tech, Goldey-Beacom, Holy Family, Immaculata, Rowan, Rutgers-Newark, Salisbury, Seton Hall, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington.
Delaware, which features 16 freshmen and sophomores on its young roster, will be competing for the first time since opening the season with a third place team finish at the Lehigh Invitational back on Aug. 29. Senior Katrina Steenkamer led the Blue Hens with a sixth place finish.
The Blue Hens will host a second home meet when Delaware hosts the Blue & Gold Invitational on Oct. 11 at White Clay Creek State Park.
