NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team will look to bounce back after two losses on the West Coast as the Blue Hens travel to Temple Wednesday.
The Blue Hens (6-2) suffered their first two losses of the season last weekend as UD fell to No. 15 Cal 4-2 and No. 24 Stanford 2-1.
Tobias Müller provided a bright spot for UD on its west coast trip. Muller was responsible for all of Delaware's scoring Friday as the Steinfurt, Germany native scored his first two goals of the season in Delaware's loss to Cal.
Guillermo Delgado and Joe Dipre have led the Blue Hen offensive attack with 10 combined goals this season, while Borja Barbero has been stout for UD with three shutouts.
Wednesday's game will be the 47th meeting between the two programs. The first meeting between the schools was in 1927 and Delaware is 9-32-6 all-time against Temple. Despite the one-sided all-time record, UD has not lost to the Owls since 1995 and the Blue Hens defeated Temple 2-1 in last year's matchup.
Ian HennessyTemple enters Wednesday's matchup with a 1-5-1 record and is coming off a 3-0 defeat to Penn Sunday.
Freshman Olli Tynkkynen leads the Owls with two goals this season, while Jared Martinelli has a team-high 26 shots on the year. Dan Scheck has started in goal for Temple in six games this season and has allowed a total of eight goals.
Delaware's matchup with Temple is set to begin Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Ambler Soccer Field in Ambler, Pa.
