In fourth flight singles action, Naumova defeated Drexel's Aysenil Orhon, 6-0, 6-2 before registering a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rebecca Breland (Temple) for the flight crown.
Naumova also paired with senior Abby Martinez (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) for the No. 2 doubles championship. The duo defeated the Owls' Breland and Yana Khon, 8-1 to advance to the finals against teammates Christina Harrington (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) and Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West). Harrington and Studnicki collected an 8-4 win over SJU's Anne Marie Devlin and Arianne Polatnick to move on to the finals.
In the all-Blue Hens final, Naumova and Martinez battled for a thrilling 9-8 (4) victory against Harrington and Studnicki.
Delaware also secured the No. 1 doubles title as sophomore Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and senior Kim Milla (México City, México/CONAMAT) fought for a close 9-8 (5) win against Colonial Athletic Association rivals Nicole Pivonka and Clary Rodriguez Cruz from Drexel.
“Today was another great day of tennis. You can't recreate these training conditions in practice with the sheer amount of matches in addition to the heat. I am extremely pleased with all of the doubles play. It was exciting, and nerve-wracking at the same time, to have two Blue Hens squads play against one another. Both played exceptionally well as it came down to a tiebreaker. We saw so much personal development this weekend, which will definitely help us in the future.”
