NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team will play a pair of road matches this weekend as the Blue Hens travel to Army for a 7 p.m. contest on Friday before a 1 p.m. match at Brown on Sunday.
Delaware is 2-1 this season, posting one-goal victories over Monmouth and Saint Francis (Pa.) before a narrow 2-1 overtime defeat to St. John's last Friday. Five different players have scored the five Blue Hen goals so far this season, while senior midfielder Andi Arnold paces the squad and is tied for the Colonial Athletic Association lead with three assists.
Kailyn Rekos has started two matches and made four saves in the UD goal, while Jess Figueroa posted a shutout over the Red Flash during her one start in net.
Army enters the weekend with a 1-3 record, although the Black Knights' lone victory was a 2-1 triumph over St. John's at West Point. Army opened its season with a 1-0 loss to Fairfield, and last weekend dropped a pair of matches in North Carolina to UNC Greensboro and Davidson. Bailey Widman leads the Black Knights with five points on two goals and an assist, while Jordan Cassalla has posted a 1.75 goals against average in net.
Brown will be opening its 2014 campaign on Friday against St. John's, before hosting the Blue Hens on Sunday afternoon. The Bears finished 10-6-1 overall last season, including 4-2-1 in the Ivy League.
Friday's match will be the third all-time between Delaware and Army, as the Black Knights posted a 1-0 victory during the 2010 season before the Blue Hens answered with a 2-1 triumph the following year. Delaware's match on Sunday will be the program's first ever against Brown.
