University of Delaware Women's Golfers Open 2014 Fall Schedule This Weekend at Tignanelli Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md. -- The University of Delaware women's golf squad opens its fourth varsity season on Sunday and Monday when the Blue Hens look to defend their team title in the Tignanelli Towson Invitational at the Towson Golf & Country Club.
The tournament, which will serve as Delaware's season-opener for the fourth consecutive year, will be played on the par 72, 6,619-yard course and features 15 teams. In addition to Delaware and Towson, the field includes Bethune-Cookman, Central Connecticut, Delaware State, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hampton, Hofstra, LIU Brooklyn, Longwood, Navy, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Wagner.
The 36-hole tournament will feature one round on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the final round starting Monday at 8 a.m.
Patty Post Andi Slane, who ranked second on the Blue Hens with a 76.71 average round last season, will lead the Blue Hens from the No. 1 spot at this weekend's tournament. Junior Vimonthip Benjasupawan will be in the second spot after averaging 78.13 shots per round in 2013-14, while senior tri-captain and fellow Bangkok, Thailand native Baralee Theinthong will play in the third position.UD freshman Rachel Lee will make her Blue Hen debut in the fourth spot while sophomore Vitoria Teixeira, who ranked fourth on the team with a 78.04 average round a year ago, will play in the fifth position.
Blue Hen sophomore Marie Bogenez and junior Nathalie Filler will play as individuals at the tournament.
Following the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, Delaware takes a month off before competing in the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa on Oct. 4-5 at Finkbine Golf Course.
Two weeks later the Blue Hens head north to again participate in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Course on Oct. 18-19. The following weekend UD will look to defend its team title at the second annual University of Delaware Invitational, held on Oct. 25-26 at Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
The Blue Hens wrap up their fall campaign on Nov. 2-4 when they head to Lakewood Ranch, Fla. to again compete in the Florida International/Pat Bradley Invitational.
