Blue Hen Freshman Middle Hitter Daria Robinson Named CAA Volleyball Co-Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman middle hitter Daria Robinson has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Robinson, a native of Durham, N.C. (Hillside), led the Blue Hens with 21 blocks while adding 21 kills during the week, helping Delaware win three of its four matches.
She recorded three kills and a career-high nine blocks during Tuesday's three-set victory over Delaware State, and added six kills and five blocks in the 3-1 win over Central Connecticut on Friday.
Robinson posted a season-best seven kills to go with three blocks Saturday morning against Santa Clara, while she contributed five kills and four blocks in the straight set victory over the host Crimson that night to close out the Harvard Invitational.
Robinson, who has appeared in all but one set during the early season, currently leads the Blue Hens with 27 blocks and ranks eighth in the CAA by averaging 1.13 blocks per set. She also ranks fifth on UD with 28 kills and 1.17 kills per set.
Robinson shared league Rookie of the Week honors with Brigitte Burcescu of Northeastern, while Saitaua Iosia of Towson was named Player of the Week and Nuria Lopes de Silva of Hofstra was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Robinson and the Blue Hens, who are 4-3 on the campaign, host Penn on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before participating in the 38th Annual Delaware Invitational this weekend.
