Kory Holden Named CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman point guard Kory Holden has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Holden (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) led the Blue Hens by averaging 16.3 points and 4.0 assists per game during Delaware's three games last week, while he tied for second on the squad by grabbing 5.0 rebounds per contest. He scored 10 points and handed out five assists in last Monday's loss at Hofstra, and tied his season-high with seven rebounds.
Holden then scored a game-high 25 points at UNCW on Thursday, finishing 15 of 16 from the foul line, and again pulled down seven boards. He then finished with 14 points, going 8 of 10 from the charity stripe, and handed out three assists during Saturday's 64-58 win at the College of Charleston.
Holden, who has appeared in all but one game this season, currently leads Delaware with 55 assists and ranks third in the league with 3.9 assists per game. He is second on the squad and 11th in the CAA with 12.4 points per game, and also ranks 11th in the conference with a 71.8 free throw percentage and a 1.1 assist/turnover ratio.
Holden, who earned his second CAA Rookie of the Week award this season, will lead the Blue Hens against Towson on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
