Delaware Women Post Six Runner-Up Finishes at Princeton Open

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The University of Delaware women's indoor track and field squad posted six second place finishes and Monica Hagenauer qualified for the ECAC Championships in the weight throw to highlight action for the Blue Hens at the Tiger Open at Princeton University's Jadwyn Gym
Saturday afternoon.
The Hens, competing in their fourth meet of the season, had 22 top 10 finishes overall to close out a successful competition.
“We had good team energy today,” said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane. “We are developing nicely as a group. It is great to see athletes achieving ECAC standards each week.”
Finishing second for the Hens were Liz McGroarty in the 1,000 meters (3:00.41), Tyler Jackson in the 200 meters (25.62), Miranda Reinson in the pole vault (11-1.75), Haley Gorenflo (at left) in the pole vault (11-1.75), LaToya James in the 60 meter hurdles (8.59), and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Tyra Reid (bottom right), Kelley Donovan, Alexandra Carroll, and Carolyn Darr (3:57.86).
Hagenauer posted Delaware's top finish in the throwing events as she threw the weight throw 53-4.25 to place fourth overall and qualify for the ECAC Championships at Boston University in early March.
Alexis Gligor also placed fourth in the pole vault (11-1.75) as did Reid in the 400 meters (58.72).
Carroll posted her second top 10 finish of the day in the 500 meters as she placed sixth with a time of 1:19.45 and Donovan was also a top 10 finisher with a seventh place showing in the 400 meters (59.12).
Delaware will return to action Jan. 30-31 at the Armory Collegiate Invitational at New York City and Jan. 31 at the John Covert Classic at Lehigh.
