LYNCHBURG, Va. –Delaware women's tennis opened play Thursday on the first day of the Women's ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Liberty University.
Delaware had just two student-athletes selected to participate in the Regional, with freshman Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and sophomore Arielle Shuren (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) earning a spot in the doubles bracket. Shuren will also compete in singles play beginning Friday.
In Thursday's Round of 64, the duo were defeated by Penn State's Katia Blik and Devan McCluskey, 8-0.
With the loss, the pair finishes the fall slate with a 5-2 record in doubles play.
“We didn't come out of the gates quick enough or execute as needed. Setbacks like this serve as motivation and we'll definitely gain from this experience.”
