Thomas de Villardi Honored as CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After guiding the University of Delaware men's soccer squad to a 2-0 week, Thomas de Villardi (Vincennes, France/Lycee Notre-dame Guingamp) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday.
The junior transfer contributed a goal and three assists as the Blue Hens (6-6-2, 3-2 CAA) posted wins over Drexel and Northeastern last week.
Ian HennessyDe Villardi collected a career-best four points in last Wednesday's 5-1 victory at home over the Dragons as he scored his first goal in a Delaware uniform and assisted on two others, including the game-winner. He also assisted on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 decision at NU.
In 12 games played this season for the Hens, de Villardi leads the team with four assists and is third overall with six points.
The Blue Hens have won three of their last four contests and are currently fifth in the CAA standings with nine points.
Elon freshman Jaiden Fortune was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week.
Delaware next travels to No. 18 Maryland for a 7 p.m. contest at Ludwig field before returning to CAA play Sunday by hosting No. r/v UNCW at 1 p.m. at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
