Blue Hens Picked Fifth in CAA Preseason Poll; Holden Named Preseason Second Team All-CAA

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The University of Delaware men's basketball team was picked fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Poll while sophomore guard Kory Holden was selected Preseason Second Team All-CAA at the league's Basketball Media Day held Tuesday at The Center Club.
Hofstra was selected to win the conference title according to a vote of the conference's head coaches, media relations directors, and media members. James Madison was picked second in the poll, followed by Northeastern, William & Mary and Delaware. UNCW was selected sixth, ahead of Towson, Drexel, College of Charleston and Elon.
Holden (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) appeared in 29 games while starting 28 a year ago, when he earned CAA All-Rookie Team honors. He ranked second in the league with 5.0 assists per game and eighth with a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio, and was second on the Blue Hens and second among league freshmen with a 12.4 scoring average.
Holden's 360 points were the second highest total ever by a UD freshman, and he became the first Blue Hen rookie to score at least 24 points in four games on the year. Holden reached double figures in 18 games during the campaign, including a season-high 27 during the win over St. Bonaventure.
Juan'ya Green of Hofstra was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the first team All-CAA by Ron Curry of James Madison, Ameen Tanksley of Hofstra, Terry Tarpey of William & Mary, and David Walker of Northeastern. The second team consisted of Holden, Yohanny Dalembert of James Madison, John Davis of Towson, Quincy Ford of Northeastern, and Omar Prewitt of William & Mary.
Tavon Allen of Drexel, Canyon Barry of Charleston, Arnaud William Adalo Moto of Towson, Craig Ponder of UNCW, and Tanner Samson of Elon were each selected honorable mention.
The CAA television schedule was also announced at Media Day, with the Blue Hens having seven regular season games televised this season. Delaware's contest at Villanova on Dec. 22 will be broadcast by Fox Sports 1, along with six conference games.
The Blue Hens' home game against James Madison on Jan. 2 will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet, while the road game at Towson on Jan. 30 will be televised by The Comcast Network.
NBC Sports Network will broadcast the William & Mary road game on Feb. 6, along with the home contest vs. Hofstra on Feb. 13. Comcast SportsNet will televise the road game at James Madison on Feb. 20, while The Comcast Network will show the rivalry battle at Drexel on Feb. 25.
Additionally, the Blue Hens' games at Temple on Nov. 29 and at Boston College on Dec. 19 will be available on ESPN3.com. All Delaware home games that are not televised will be available online at bluehens.com, while all non-televised league road games will be available at CAA.TV.
Comcast SportsNet will broadcast the four CAA Tournament Quarterfinal games on Mar. 5, while NBC Sports Network will show the semifinals on Mar. 6 and the championship game on Mar. 7.
